Usher Syndrome Becoming Agie Book 1 eBook Grigory Ryzhakov Stephanie Dagg Reviews

I just would like to echo other reviewers by saying that the story is very well written and has a natural, effortless flow about it. For a reader it’s pure enjoyment, before you even get to consider the subject matter. And that’s why it can be recommended to everybody. When it comes to the theme, I can say that it’s exactly my type of literature with a healthy mixture of love and science - two things that fascinate me most in life. However, I agree with the protagonist, that it wasn’t actually love, but only a stage in his/her life. And I feel infinitely story for his/her lover who was only a means to an end all around, be it scientifically or emotionally.
Usher Syndrome is the thoughtful perspective of a transsexual scientist named Agie who falls in love with a disabled young man. Agie works through the perils and joys of love as she utilizes her scientific expertise to discover a cure for her lover's genetic disorder. I think the story's final revelations are the most poignant, and they lead to an unexpected, heartbreaking conclusion. This is a story about love, forgiveness and a lesson that blindness can be physical, emotional and metaphorical.

"Love is blind; friendship closes its eyes." ~ Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
As Ryzhakov's debut work of short fiction in English, Usher Syndrome takes a curious and well-written glimpse into the lives of three unique characters and reveals a rich world of personality marbled with seemingly complex themes. Ryzhakov's background in molecular biology trickles through the tale, winding Science and personal identity together delicately; although a work on these subjects could prove quite heavy, Ryzhakov succeeds in creating an easily palatable and enjoyable tale.

Easily read in one sitting, Usher Syndrome is an excellent example of short fiction that packs a punch without unnecessary fluff. Its only flaw might be that it is indeed short--but rumours have it that a sequel is in the works. Ryzhakov is without doubt an upcoming writer to watch!

I recommend Usher Syndrome to anyone who would like a quick, thought-provoking read during their daily commute or morning coffee.
The story has promise, but could do with some fleshing out. The plot is quite unique, but there is a bit of naivety that can be jarring.
It is very strange. No people act like these three. The first person narration totally restricted the story. We never got to see or understand the other characters viewpoints.
Very interesting read... Really goes to show you that
Lovee comes in many ways , shapes, colors and even forms... You have to Love yourself before you can love some one else.
The story was such a smooth and easy ride to follow and engage. And it had a twist to it. Which was pretty obvious, but worked as an excellent benefit to the story.
It was my first story I read about a transgender person as the main character, and I think there are so many great stories can be told.

The thing I loved about the story was that love has no gender.
One can be the boy, or a girl, or transgender.
